How Youth Employment Assistance (formerly SLES) Helps Develop Workplace Skills

2 min 27 sec

The Youth Employment Assistance (formerly known as School Leaver Employment Support or SLES) is a type of support program offered through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) to help young individuals with disabilities transition from school to the workplace.

Its main objective is to help NDIS participants like yourself develop the skills they need in order to become successful members of the workforce.

Benefits of The Personnel Group’s Youth Employment Assistance Service

As one of the top NDIS employment support providers in Australia, The Personnel Group is committed to helping young NDIS participants get ready to be part of the workforce by delivering specialised Youth Employment Assistance (formerly SLES). This training is designed to improve the workplace skills of NDIS participants with specialised funding in the following ways:

Personalised Plan Development

Our Youth Employment training begins with the development of an individual plan that’s specifically tailored to your needs, conditions, and ambitions. In order to provide comprehensive Youth Employment Assistance support, we collaborate with you, your family, caregivers, and other stakeholders to develop your personalised plan.

Through this plan, we are able to clearly identify the types of support that you’ll need to achieve your employment goals.

Skill Building Sessions

As part of our youth employment services training, The Personnel Group’s specialists will help you develop the skills you need to succeed in the workplace. This is done by providing you with access to sessions which are tailored to your needs.

These sessions aim to help you improve your employment potential, such as by learning how to draft effective resumes, dress properly in workplace settings, become more financially responsible, and gain essential digital knowledge to enhance your computer skills.

Work Experience

Our employment services for the youth places a strong emphasis on work experience opportunities, experience taster days, industry guest speakers and site tours.  Depending on your work goals, we can tailor your work experience to your interests, skills, or ambitions.

Workplace Readiness

Aside from these, The Personnel Group’s youth employment support training is also focused on improving the workplace readiness of NDIS participants. Some of the things you can expect to learn in our training program include proper workplace communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving.

We’ll also help you learn stress management techniques and how you can properly look after your mental health and well-being.

Even after helping you find a job, The Personnel Group can provide additional support to ensure that you thrive in the next stage of your life.

Who’s Eligible for Youth Employment Assistance Support?

In order to qualify for The Personnel Group’s offering of NDIS Youth Employment Assistance, you should have an active plan that includes funding for this type of support. Generally, you should be between 15 to 22 years old (age limits can vary) and must be in the final years of school or have already graduated.

If, however, you do not meet some of the requirements mentioned above, don’t feel discouraged. You’re still welcome to get in touch with The Personnel Group. We’re more than happy to discuss with you our other employment support programs for NDIS participants and people with a disability, injury, or mental health condition.

Do You Need Further Assistance?

Your journey to meaningful employment starts with the right support. At The Personnel Group, we’re committed to helping young NDIS participants gain the skills and confidence needed to thrive in the workplace through our Youth Employment Assistance service.
