Getting parents ready to return to work

committed to help you every step of the way

Gain skills and qualifications or find employment

We are contracted by the Australian Government to deliver the ParentsNext program to eligible parents across Canberra, Queanbeyan, Goulburn, and Yass areas.

Our ParentsNext team specialise in supporting parents with navigating the sometimes-daunting task of getting ready to return to work, whether it be gaining skills and qualifications or finding employment.

What is ParentsNext?

The ParentsNext program supports parents to plan for their futures.  We assist parents to plan and prepare for employment by the time their youngest child reaches school age.

Our ParentsNext team will:

  • Treat you with respect and offer advice based on your life situation and your plans for the future.
  • Explain what is expected from you while you take part in ParentsNext
  • Help you work out what you want to do and plan the steps needed to get you there
  • Work with you to create a plan for study and work
  • Support you to access local services which may assist you with achieving your goals

What can you expect?

We will work with you to help build your confidence, develop skills, and access local support and psychology services to plan for your future.

You’re not required to look for work when part of the ParentsNext program, however, if you’re ready and want to look for work, we can help you.

Study or work might seem far away right now for some parents, but taking part in ParentsNext will put you in a much better position to act on opportunities when the time is right.

We also welcome you to bring your children to appointments, as our offices are child friendly with toys and activities to keep them entertained during your appointment with us.

Are you eligible?

  • You have a child aged 9 months to 6 years
  • You are under the age of 55
  • You’ve been getting Parenting Payments and haven’t worked in the last 6 months

Plus, one of the following must apply:

  • You’re under the age of 22 and haven’t completed Year 12 or equivalent
  • You’re 22 or over and haven’t completed Year 12 or equivalent and have been getting income support for at least 2 years.
  • You’re 22 or over and have been getting income support for more than 4 years

There are several exclusions to the above criteria, so we recommend that you contact us and speak to our ParentsNext Consultants who will be able to answer any questions and determine whether you are eligible.

Receive $250 in vouchers with ParentsNext.

By simply attending your first initial meeting we will provide you with an engagement support voucher to welcome you to ParentsNext.

Your steps towards success and achieving goals will further be rewarded with a $50 voucher for the next subsequent visits.  That’s a total of $250 of engagement support vouchers rewarded to you for taking charge of your future.

During your appointment we will discuss what type of voucher will best help, such as groceries, fuel, etc.
