Having the right supports in place has enabled Amy to thrive in her workplace – PE4K Childcare.
Amy was already working three days a week under supervision as a casual in the kitchen.
“I’ve been working here for about a year,” Amy says.
“I work in the kitchen with Kelly, and I like working here with the children.”
Seeing her passion, Amy’s employers wanted to help her take the next step in her career.
To make this a reality, The Personnel Group’s Workplace Support Consultant Samijo worked with Amy’s manager Emily and kitchen supervisor Kelly, to set up workflow checklists and task lists for Amy to use as a guide during her shifts.

“Her employer wanted Amy to be able to work independently,” says Workplace Support Consultant Samijo.
“If someone was away, they wanted Amy to be able to run the kitchen by herself and have to take other staff away from their jobs to supervise.”
As her confidence grew Amy relied less and less on the lists.
She now works independently in the kitchen and is a permanent part-time employee.
“I arrived on site one recent Friday, and Amy was running the kitchen by herself,” says Samijo.
“I asked her where Kelly was, and she said Kelly’s not here today. She said: ‘I’m doing it myself’.
“It’s just amazing. She had everything sorted, everything set up, and she was just so happy.”
Amy loves interacting with the children she caters for and contributing to her workplace.
“It’s really good to come to work every day and see the kids. I’m really enjoying it,” she says.
