Jasper‘s Story

At The Personnel Group I’m a person, not a number

Securing employment for Jasper has been a highlight for EC Max.

Jasper had the skills and determination to work in traffic control; it wasn’t until he joined The Personnel Group that he had the support to turn his career dream into reality.

“I was with a different provider, and they were trying to push me into a bunch of other jobs I didn’t want or wasn’t qualified for,” Jasper says.

“It’s been a long time that I have been looking for a job, and as soon as I came here, everything just started falling into place.”

Employment Consultant Max Hadley says the toughest challenge was finding an employer open to employing a person living with mental health conditions or disability.

“I did reach out to a few different traffic providers in the area,” Max says.

“Finding the right employer, someone who has the awareness around disability, is one of the most important things.

“We found one who was supportive … they felt that Jasper was the right fit.”

Jasper appreciates The Personnel Group’s focused individual service.

“Yeah, within a week we started working,” Jasper says.

“I felt like I was just a number to [previous provider], and here it’s like I’m actually a person that needs help.

“Working in this job means everything to me at the moment.

It’s good for me and my mental health as well.

“I feel really good about it. I’m glad to be working finally.”

Securing employment for Jasper has been a highlight for EC Max.

“I can see improvements in his barriers with mental health,” says Max.

“During the first appointment I had with him, he was relatively quiet and didn’t appear to have a lot of confidence.

“It’s exactly what he wanted to be doing. It’s been really positive.”
