Initial contact opens door to independence

When an opportunity arose to join Moira Mac’s Poultry in Bendigo, central Victoria, as a factory hand Merrilyn grabbed it and she hasn’t looked back.

“I had my forklift licence and wanted a role where I could use this and work in an environment where I could get my hands messy.”

When Merrilyn approached The Personnel Group through our website she was struggling financially and faced housing instability.

Client attraction officer Emma Pay reached out to Merrilyn (pictured), explained how to register and set up a meeting with consultant Alana Waddington.

“We discussed my previous work history, running my own business operating prime movers and administration, and talked about employment goals,” Merrilyn says.

“Emma and Alana were compassionate, patient and understanding of my situation.

“I had my forklift licence and wanted a role where I could use this and work in an environment where I could get my hands messy.”

“The people I work with are super friendly and it’s a great environment. I have financial stability and been able to gain my life back,” Merrilyn says.

“Having this job has seen my health improve, it has given me a purpose to get out of bed, I have gained my independence and self-worth and I am a lot happier within myself.”
